When you want to know how to treat knee pain I’d like you to understand you have a variety of options.
Yes, you want to discuss with your doctor everything to do with your pain or injury so he/she can explain what types of treatment are available.
At the end of the day, though, always remember this is your body and you have ultimate say in what solution makes you most comfortable.

Ok, with that said, let’s look at some treatment options. Later, I’ll let you know what I did personally to become pain free after suffering with chronic knee pain!
For starters, don’t subject yourself to any more injuries. This means refraining from activities that will possibly cause more damage.
Rest your knee for a few days. Eventually, try some gentle exercises.
Many medical professionals, who know how to treat knee pain, will advise that your knee shouldn’t be kept immobile for too long.
You can also apply ice for between ten and thirty minutes at a time. Applying ice for less time than that won’t have much impact. This is imperative so as to reduce any inflammation and relieve your pain further.
While I like to take a holistic approach I understand that medication simply becomes necessary at some point as you move toward healing.
Your doctor may prescribe certain painkillers such as paracetamol or codeine. Again, that’s between you and the doc.
Your doctor will be able to advise you on the correct dosage, timing, etc.
He or she may also advise you to take an anti-inflammatory drug or even simple aspirin.
How to Treat Knee Pain Through Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy, also called physical therapy, can possibly be an ideal treatment if you’re looking for ways to restore your knee’s movement ability.
Light exercises are recommended so as to reinstate strength to the muscles that shore up the knee joint.
A common stretching exercise is to lift your heels after you’ve situated a rolled-up towel underneath your knee. See how far you can straighten the knee without lifting it from the towel. Use a bigger roll if it’s too painful at first. This helps strengthen your quadriceps muscle.
When non-surgical options just don’t help then you may need to turn to surgery. When you get the help of a quality doctor who knows how to treat knee pain through surgery, it can be a successful procedure.
One of the most effective and successful operations done today in medicine is total knee replacement surgery. The first one was performed all the way back in 1968 and their effectiveness has only improved over the decades.

How I Beat My Knee Pain
I told you above that I’m now free from knee pain. I did it by cycling. But not just any cycling…I used Ortho-Pedals.
Depending on your injury, pain or range of motion, using a bicycle can sometimes be difficult. With the adjustable Ortho-Pedals I was able to finally pedal after being unable to for almost an entire year!
Within 2 months I did a 1500-foot climb up Blue Mountain.
Within 6 months I had improved to 100 degrees flexion/0 degrees extension after starting at 65 degrees flexion/10 degrees extension…quite the improvement!
